Heavy Light 28.08.2015. Overgaden. TRUST.

Sophie Dupont’s performative practice is built around simple, but physically and mentally demanding action rituals. Based on basic actions like balance, breath and movement she creates intense, meditative situations where the body used as a tool and prerequisite for an exploration of the mind and the fundamental existential questions. Based on a simple weight principle addresses the installation Heavy Light (2015) relations people in between, which finds concrete expression to the audience involved in the production of the work at the opening. During the evening people will be encouraged to lower Dupont to the ground using 88 iron balls with the exact same weight as the artist. Underneath her is a cloth covered with pigments which may emerge contours of the body when she finally rests on the floor. The remains of the performance is left in the space as a physical imprint of the act that opens up for reflections on what we consciously or unconsciously impose on ourselves and each other.
